OUR CLASSROOM CODE OF CONDUCT

In order to have a good learning environment in the classroom, each student must follow these rules:

1. Follow directions at all times.

2. Raise your hand to speak.

3. Be nice to your teachers and friends.

4. Keep your hands and feet to yourself.

5. Wear your uniform everyday.

REWARDS:

1. A happy teacher and happy students

2. Verbal praise

3. Stickers

4. Extra free time (at computers or at centers)

5. Good note sent home

CONSEQUENCES:

First warning: Verbal warning

Second warning: Thinking chair (Time-out)

Third warning: Loss of free time

Fourth warning: Parent contact

*** The student will be sent to an Administrator or counselor if the behavior is severe or the child's behavior does not change.

Back to School

Summer vacation is gone,

and a new school year has begun!

How excited I am to see,

so many new faces looking at me.

New teachers, new friends,

new books, new looks.

This is beginning to look real cool,

especially remembering the golden rule.

I love math, writing, reading,

but most of all SUCCEEDING!

When I get home from school today,

I'll do all my homework right away.

I pledge I'll work hard everyday,

and still have plenty of time to play.

A PRAYER FOR TEACHERS

I want to teach my students more than lessons in a book;

I want to teach them deeper things that people overlook-

The value of a rose in bloom, its use and beauty, too

A sense of curiosity to discover what is true;

I welcome you and your family to First Grade. After enjoying your summer vacation, it is time to come back to school again. You will be learning many new things this school year. You will also be reading a lot, both in English and in Spanish. I therefore, encourage you to get a library card from the public library if you do not have one yet.

You will be participating in the Extended Foreign Language Program (EFL). This program will help you develop bilingual and bi-literate proficiency in English and in Spanish. When you leave first grade, you will be reading fluently in English and in Spanish!

Te doy la bienvenida a tí y a tu familia al Primer Grado. Después de haber disfrutado tus vacaciones de verano, es hora de comenzar las clases otra vez. Aprenderás muchas cosas nuevas este año escolar. También estarás leyendo mucho en Inglés y en Español, así que te animo a que obtengas una tarjeta de la biblioteca pública si todavía no tienes una.

Estarás participando en el Programa de Idioma Extranjero Extendido (EFL). Este programa te ayudará a desarrollarte en una persona competente, bilingüe y bicultural en Inglés y en Español. ¡Cuando termines el primer grado, estarás leyendo con fluidez en Inglés y en Español!

Welcome to first grade! Your child will be doing many activities in school and at home during this school year. In order for your child to complete these activities, he/she will need the following school supplies. Please have your child’s name on them. Your child must bring all of the supplies to school on the first day of school, Monday, August 20th, 2007.

1 pencil sharpener with a cover

1 pink bar eraser

1 large glue stick

2 Composition Books

5 folders with 2 pockets and 3 prongs each: 1 red for Home Learning Assignments, 1 blue for Language Arts, 1 yellow for Math, 1 green for Spanish, 1 purple for Content Areas (Science and Social Studies)

white wide ruled paper in each folder

1 ream of white copy paper ex: Xerox, Georgia-Pacific, etc.

1 box of crayons (no more than 12)

1 12 inch ruler

1 pair of scissors with blunt point

1 zippered pencil case to keep pencils, crayons, etc. NO SCHOOL BOXES PLEASE

1 backpack or book bag (NO WHEELS PLEASE)

1 coloring book

1 bottle of hand sanitizer such as Purell

2 boxes of baby wipes

1 raincoat with a hood

¡Bienvenidos al primer grado! Su hijo(a) realizará muchas actividades en el colegio y en la casa durante este año escolar. Para que su hijo(a) pueda completar estas actividades, él/ella necesitará los siguientes materiales escolares. Por favor escriban el nombre de su hijo(a) en todos los materiales. Su hijo(a) deberá traer todos los materiales al colegio el primer día de clases, lunes, 20 de agosto de 2007.

5 “folders” o portafolios con 2 bolsillos y 3 pinchos cada uno, para poner papel: 1 rojo para las tareas, 1 azul para Lenguaje, 1 amarillo para Matemática, 1 verde para Español, 1 morado para Ciencias y Estudios Sociales

papel blanco de líneas anchas para escribir, puestos en cada “folder”

1 par de tijeras de punta redonda

My students will have home learning assignments every day, including weekends, as per Miami-Dade County School Board rules. I will give them a homework sheet every Monday with all of the week's homework written on it. Your child is responsible for placing it inside their F.I.S.H. binder If your child misplaces the sheet, you can find the weekly homework posted on this website. The students are to complete their homework every day. It must be signed by a parent and brought to school inside the F.I.S.H. binder the next day. Homework will be checked daily. All homework must be done on a separate sheet of paper and placed in the correct pocket in the F.I.S.H. binder.

Students are required to complete their Home Learning Assignments every day. If for some reason, your child is not able to do the assignments or does only part of it, let me know by writing a note on the Agenda. Students who come to school without their assignments completed and without a note, will lose their classroom privileges for the day. If this behavior continues, your child’s academic grade may be affected.

If you have any concerns, you may speak to me after school or ask me for an appointment.

Mis estudiantes tendrán tareas todos los días, incluyendo los fines de semana, de acuerdo a los reglamentos de la Junta Escolar de Miami-Dade County Yo les daré una hoja de tarea todos los lunes con toda la tarea de la semana escrita en ella. Es la responsabilidad de su hijo(a) ponerla dentro de su carpeta F.I.S.H. Si su hijo/a pierde la hoja, usted puede encontrar la tarea semanal en este sitio (website). Los estudiantes harán las tareas todos los días y las traerán dentro de la carpeta F.I.S.H.a la escuela el próximo día firmadas por uno de los padres. Las tareas serán revisadas diariamente. Las tareas deberán hacerse en una hoja de papel y serán puesta en la sección correcta dentro de la carpeta F.I.S.H.

Los estudiantes tienen que completar sus Deberes de Aprendizaje en la casa todos los días. Si por alguna razón, su hijo/a no puede hacer los deberes o solo hace parte de ellos, déjemelo saber escribiendo una nota en la Agenda. Los estudiantes que vengan a la escuela sin los deberes hechos y sin una nota, perderán privilegios en el aula por ese día. Si esta conducta continúa, las calificaciones de su hijo/a pueden afectarse.

Si tienen alguna pregunta, pueden hablar conmigo después de clases o me pueden pedir una cita.

CODIGO DE CONDUCTA EN EL AULA

Para tener un buen ambiente de aprendizaje en el aula, cada estudiante debe seguir estas reglas:

1. Sigue las indicaciones en todo momento.

2. Leventa la mano para hablar.

3. Sé amable con tus maestras y compañeros.

4. Mantén tus manos y pies a tí mismo.

5. Viste con tu uniforme todos los días.
